1959 DE SANCTIS 1100 FORMULA JUNIOR
Works team chassis with extraordinary provenance and period competition history
Chassis no. 003 is one of the most important surviving De Sanctis Formula Juniors, boasting a remarkable competition pedigree as a works entry in the 1959 and 1960 seasons. Campaigned extensively across Europe, it was driven by notable talents including Piero Bernabei, Menato Boffa, Alfredo Tinazzo, Giuseppe Faranda, and Roberto Lippi, competing in no fewer than 28 races across two years.
Its race history is exceptional, with appearances at Monaco (twice), the Cuban Grand Prix (twice), Monza (five times), Vallelunga, Pescara, Salo, Teramo and more. The car achieved multiple podiums and victories, and its significance is further underlined by testing carried out by Antonio Ascari, son of the legendary Alberto Ascari, as he sought to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Presented today in highly original condition, the car retains its period components including the rare sand-cast Weber DCO3 carburettors. It is accompanied by a full history file and period photography, documenting its extensive provenance.
A rare opportunity to acquire one of the most historically important Formula Juniors, eligible for the world’s most prestigious historic racing events including Monaco and Goodwood, and a true jewel for any serious collection of post-war competition cars.
